Professional Repair, Rebuilding & Restoration Services

At Tonewheel General, we specialize in keeping vintage Hammond organs and Leslie speakers performing at their best. In addition to supplying quality replacement parts, we offer professional mail-order repair, rebuilding, and restoration services for a wide range of Hammond and Leslie components.

Whether you're dealing with an aging amplifier, a noisy Leslie motor, an unreliable motor control board, or a Hammond preamplifier in need of attention, we have the experience and expertise to bring your equipment back to proper operating condition.

Our mail-order service makes it easy to have your equipment professionally serviced without shipping an entire organ or Leslie speaker. Simply send us the component requiring attention, and we'll evaluate, repair or rebuild it, and return it to you ready for installation.

  • Leslie Motor Control Boards: Diagnosis and repair of electronic motor control circuits and associated components.

How Our Mail-Order Service Works

1. Contact Us

Before sending any equipment, contact us with the model number, a description of the problem, and any relevant details. We'll discuss your service needs and provide shipping instructions. And don't be surprised if we recommend a complete rebuild rather than a simple repair!

2. Ship Your Equipment

Carefully package the component and ship it to our service facility. Proper packaging is especially important for heavy amplifiers, delicate electronic assemblies, and vintage components. For heavier units, we recommend securely fastening the component to a piece of plywood and using plenty of sturdy packing material to protect it during transit.

3. Evaluation & Service

Once your equipment arrives, we'll inspect and evaluate its condition, determine the necessary repairs, and discuss the recommended service and associated costs before proceeding.

4. Return Shipping

After service is completed, your equipment will be thoroughly tested for proper operation. We'll also provide videos demonstrating the completed work and the unit's operation for your review. Your equipment will then be carefully packaged and shipped back to you for reinstallation.

Repair or Complete Rebuild?

While an individual repair may correct an immediate problem, we generally recommend a comprehensive rebuild for the best long-term reliability, particularly with equipment containing decades-old capacitors, resistors, and other aging components.

Replacing only a failed component doesn't address other parts that may be approaching the end of their useful service life. A complete rebuild allows us to address these potential issues proactively, helping restore proper performance, reduce the likelihood of future failures, and extend the service life of your equipment.

Our philosophy is simple: If it's worth repairing, it's worth repairing properly. Fix it one time!

Keep Your Hammond & Leslie Running Strong

Vintage Hammond organs and Leslie speakers were built to last, but even the finest equipment requires maintenance and occasional restoration. Our mission is to help preserve these remarkable instruments by providing knowledgeable service, quality components, and dependable workmanship.
