TWGH Shipping and General Policies

Tonewheel General Hospital ships world wide! The following paragraphs detail expected delivery times and cost specifics.

Items that indicate "Stocked" in their listing are in stock. Items that indicate "Special" are not stocked and require special order from the manufacturer (these items require payment at the time of order and are generally not returnable, though some exceptions apply). Items that indicate "On Order" are out of stock and have been requested from our distributors. Items that indicate "Back Ordered" are not available from our distributor at this time.

All in stock items are usually shipped the same day if your order is placed prior to 3:00 PM Central Time. If an item is out of stock you will be advised when we expect to receive it.

Shipping choices and costs for United States Postal Service (USPS) and FedEx will be calculated and displayed during the checkout process. You may also obtain this information by clicking on "View Gurney" at any time. In most cases the shipping charges displayed will be correct.

However, the web site is unable to predict the weight of the shipping carton and packing material. We will advise prior to shipping if the charge is higher than quoted.

Shipping charges indicated for the reproduction wood parts will not be correct due to these items shipping from the manufacturer and requiring special packaging. Shipping for these items will be quoted separately. In some cases (Leslie cabinets and other large items) shipping cartons are required that cost $30 or more. These large items also receive the "Oversize 3" attribute from UPS/FedEx/DHL and get an automatic $40 surcharge from those companies.

If you prefer another shipping method (UPS or DHL for example) you will need to select either USPS or FedEx during checkout and advise in the checkout comments section your shipping method preference. Additional charges may apply.

We do not ship on your FedEx/UPS/DHL account number. This is because the shipper bills us for the shipment if there is some problem with the delivery, or, in one case, billed both us and the customer. We prefer to avoid entangling ourselves in that mess again.

All shipping charges are rounded up to the next whole dollar to help cover packing supplies, tape, etc. Where possible we reuse packing material and boxes to keep our costs (and product pricing) as low as possible. There is a minimum shipping charge of $3.00. Shipping is not a profit center here at the Hospital, though some orders require special packing materials, boxes and handling and will be charged accordingly. If you have any questions concerning shipping costs please let us know. We can always advise the exact shipping charge prior to placing your order.

Generally, packages weighing 8 ounces or less are most economically shipped via USPS First Class Mail; packages weighing 9 ounces to 3 pounds are usually best sent USPS Priority Mail; packages weighing more than 3 pounds are best shipped FedEx Ground Service. However, we are happy to ship via any method you prefer.

Federal Express (FedEx) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) are the preferred shipping providers for the Tonewheel General Hospital because their customer counters are in close proximity to our facility. Please note that insurance for USPS items is not included in the postage unless requested, and that USPS insurance rates are much higher than those for FedEx. United Parcel Service (UPS) and (DHL) services are also available upon request.

For large objects that can't be shipped via FedEx we generally ship via BAX Global, a reasonably priced freight company with depots near major metropolitain airports. For destinations not near a BAX terminal a shipping method will be selected with the customer's input. Alternatives such as Amtrak and Greyhound are also available.

For our export customers USPS is the most economical service offering Express Mail (3 to 6 business days), Priority Mail (6 to 10 days) and First Class Mail (1 to 4 weeks). BAX Global is available for large items.

Insurance is highly recommended for all shipments. Insurance is not available for First Class Mail service, so keep that in mind if you think about choosing it. We are not responsible for products that are lost if they are not insured. In all cases we can demonstrate the order was handed over to the shipper. After that we can only hope.
